The person behind WFE

Toyo Ushioda

Founder · CPA · INSEAD GEMBA

Toyo brings 20+ years in financial and operational management, including as Global Head of FP&A at a US$125B real estate private equity firm.

He founded World Finance Edu in 2025 to share that experience with finance professionals and finance teams. Outside WFE, he is also active as an angel investor, VC Limited Partner, Venture Partner and financial advisor, separately from the WFE business.

He is Program Director and Founding Partner of the Mentogram School of Finance, a six-month postgraduate programme in global finance and AI, and he teaches corporate finance on the Mentogram MBA programme. Qualifications are awarded by Woolf, an accredited higher education institution in Malta. In November 2025 he served as a startup pitch judge at GRIC2025 in Tokyo, one of Japan's largest growth industry conferences, and at the ASEAN Technology Cooperation & Development Summit 2025 in Kuala Lumpur.

He is a Certified Public Accountant (Washington State), holds an INSEAD Global Executive MBA, and a certificate in business excellence from Columbia Business School's Private Equity & Venture Capital Program.

  • FP&A foundations and management reporting

  • — Data Science & Decision-Making
  • — Artificial Intelligence & Robotics
Format B · Corporate clients

In-house programmes for finance teams

  • Cross-functional finance for non-finance managers
  • Specialised modules with instructor partners
Three things every WFE programme is judged on
i.
Modelling that holds up under scrutiny
Structured, auditable models that actually get used in decisions — not just built to satisfy a deliverable.
ii.
Presentation that changes the room
Translating numbers into the structured argument the audience needs to act on.
iii.
Business context, not just spreadsheets
Knowing where the numbers come from, why they move, and what to ask the rest of the business.

Programmes delivered with academic and MBA partners.

Beyond direct corporate engagements, WFE delivers sessions through partner programmes across NUS, NTU and international MBA platforms — bringing corporate finance into founder education and academic curricula. Newest: two Japanese-language online programs, a corporate valuation course created jointly with Gyoseki, and a business-English pronunciation and impression course live on Udemy.

Beyond training and CFO services

WFE also invests in startups.

WFE invests its own capital directly into early-stage startups at pre-seed and seed stage. To date, WFE has backed 10+ startups directly and holds stakes in 2 VC funds covering 40+ startups. Each investment is personal and conviction-driven, focused on the founding team and the problem they are solving.

  • 01
    Pre-seed and seed only
Stage focus is pre-seed and seed — the points where founder selection, network and judgement matter most relative to capital.
  • 02
    Sector-agnostic, founder-led
Sector is open. The decision is driven by the founding team and the problem they are solving, not by category preferences.
  • 03
    Post-investment support
Startups backed by WFE get access to WFE's finance and operating experience, separate from any paid engagement.
Regulatory note

WFE invests its own capital as a sole proprietorship. WFE does not solicit, pool, or manage capital from third parties.

WFE does not provide investment advice, deal sourcing, fund management, or any other regulated financial activity, and is not licensed by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) for any such activity.

Nothing on this page constitutes a solicitation or offer of securities, or an invitation to invest alongside WFE.
